With over 25 years' experience in early childhood education, Jean McNeil is the co-author, with Jean P. Copeland, of Exceed Preschool Curriculums, and the co-founder of Child Care Solutions, USA.
In both one-on-one and classroom settings, Ms. McNeil has dedicated her career to teaching – and learning from – preschool aged children. Her hands-on experience began in the Head Start program, including ten years as a Home Educator; then serving as Social Services Parent Involvement Coordinator, and interim senior manager of the Head Start program for Chesterfield County (Virginia) Public Schools. She has also served as Regional Director and Director of The Copeland Schools, Inc., where she shared in the vision that established one of the Richmond area's first quality pre-school environments. In her broad range of experience, Ms. McNeil also has worked with learning-disabled children, and conducted remedial reading programs.
With the Exceed Preschool Curriculums, Ms. McNeil and Ms. Copeland have pioneered the first research-based and age-appropriate early childhood education curriculum for three- and four-year-olds that is suitable for teachers with all levels of experience; ensures appropriate transitions from one activity to the next; uses existing educational materials already in the classroom, and prepares young children to Exceed in their formal education and the classroom of life.
Ms. McNeil is an enthusiastic and tireless advocate for quality early childhood education programs that nurture young minds and prepare preschool aged children to maximize their potential. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States to attend or present at state early childhood education conferences, and is a familiar face to many as a presenter at NAEYC, NCCA, and NACCP National Conferences.
Ms. McNeil is also a mother and grandmother, and, in addition to spending time with her family, enjoys gardening and volunteering her time and energy for civic causes in the Richmond area.
